The Cairn Care & Repair service aims to help older people or those living with disabilities to continue to live in the safety and comfort of their own homes. We provide advice and assistance in applying for local authority grants for housing repairs and improvements or adaptations.
The service is only for owner occupiers or those renting privately.
Some examples of works we carry out include:
- level access showers
- extensions
- roof repairs
- ground floor toilets
- renewing rotten flooring
- replacement windows and doors
- security adaptations for disabled children
- stair-lifts
- damp proofing
When we receive a referral, we guide customers through the whole process, from making an initial visit to explaining what we do and to discuss what work is required, through completion of grant applications, preparing tenders for the work and monitoring it when on site.
Our handyperson service is for people aged 65 or over who have difficulty carrying out small jobs around the home, and for people of any age with a disability.
The service is only for owner occupiers or those renting privately. Some of the jobs the handyperson can do include:
- Clearing and unblocking gutters
- Unblocking sinks and baths
- Fitting grab rails and handrails inside and outside your home
- Putting up shelves
- Mending dripping taps
- Repairing or replacing curtain rails and blinds
- Fitting and repairing locks
- Fitting smoke or carbon monoxide alarms
- Changing light bulbs
- Moving furniture within the house
- Securing carpets
Based in Cairn Housing Association’s Inverness office, the Cairn Care & Repair and Handyperson services covers three areas:
- Inverness
- Nairn
